Workbook Options

Creative Writing Made Easy – Welcome to the series of books by Jan May called Creative Writing Made Easy! They provide a hands on approach to writing for homeschoolers. One of the books, the Zany Zoo Adventures, leads the young writer through a fun series of exercises to gently learn the writing process with this very familiar topic of zoo animals.

Story Starters Creative Writing Supplement – perfect for your reluctant writers and it is a creative writing supplement that can be used for a change of pace along side any writing program. If you’ve heard about using narration as a grammar tool, you will definitely want Story Starters on your school shelf. The name Story Starters is just what it says, a start of a story. And if you haven’t guessed it yet, the child reads the beginning of the engaging story and gets to finish the story.

Sequencing Simple Stories – In this workbook, children practice putting the parts of simple stories together! Through cutting and gluing, they construct their stories, and build a concrete beginning, middle and end to each story. Sequencing Simple Stories is a fun creative writing option for your young elementary kids! We used the illustrations as story starts, and made very simple books by just using one piece of construction paper, that was folded into two.

Full Elementary Writing Program

Just Write Homeschool Writing Program – This program does not kill the joy of writing as some programs can do. For my own children it has ignited a love for writing.  This writing program is for the elementary years. There are four levels taught. Each level is taught over one year. It is a workbook type program. It is a creative writing program that is easy to teach program with very little preparation.

Online Writing for 6-12 Year Olds with Night Zookeeper – offers LIVE feedback. As your child writes, the program evaluates and shares what goals still need met. For example, a goal for my child’s skill level might be: include two adjectives. If he forgets, Night Zookeeper reminds him. In addition, a story can be saved as a draft to finish later. But, a story cannot be submitted for publication or to a tutor until all goals are met!
