Winter Promise Children Around The World

I wanted my children, especially my eldest, to have a big year of geography again. I had noticed some of his skills were lacking. Not to mention it was time to expand upon some bigger geographical items as well. I looked at both Winter Promise’s Children Around {CAW} The World and Sonlight’s updated Core F. They both had resources I really wanted to use and both seemed really exciting. In the … [Read more...] about Winter Promise Children Around The World

The Writing Road to Reading Review

The Writing Road to Reading was one of the first purchases I made when I began to teach my son.  It was recommended on classical-homeschooling.org as being a great resource for teaching reading to children.  It really is a great resource! The Writing Road to Reading teaches a phonics based method for learning to read.  Unlike other phonics programs it recommends using writing as the means to … [Read more...] about The Writing Road to Reading Review

Maps Charts & Graphs Review

My oldest son has always had a love for geography.  It's always been natural for us to go find places on a map when we are talking or reading about different places in the world. I'm always looking for little ways to encourage his love of geography. One activity that has helped my son learn more about geography and map work is Maps, Charts and Graphs from Modern Curriculum Press. These are a … [Read more...] about Maps Charts & Graphs Review

180 Days In The Word

We recently, thanks to the author, tried out 180 Days In The Word. It’s thusly named because you spend 180 days of your school year reading through your entire Bible. When this was offered up for us to review I was pretty excited to give it a go as the boys had just been given new Bibles and I thought it would be a lovely way for them to get familiar with the new items. Let’s face it, it’s … [Read more...] about 180 Days In The Word

It's been a different story with my younger three children.  My two younger daughters have some special needs, so I needed to do things a bit differently.  Several months ago I turned to Hooked on Phonics as our reading program of … [Read more...] about Hooked on Phonics
