Presidents’ Day Activities for Kids for Learning and Fun

Presidents’ Day, officially Washington’s Birthday, is a holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February. It’s a great time to learn about some of the pillars that have run the United States throughout it’s history. These Presidents’ Day Activities for Kids can help you do just that with your children.

There is even a Build the White House one which my 7th grader really enjoyed putting together. We used it alongside Dover Publications The History of the White House Coloring Book. This includes 30 pages of White House History with accompanying images to color.

United States Symbols Mini-Lapbook – We chose this lapbook as a fun way to learn about some of our country’s symbols, and a possible jumping off point for more learning adventures.

Many years ago when the kids were younger we really enjoyed the book Yankee Doodle Dandy where Ellis the Elephant introduce young children to the story of the American Revolution – from the Boston Tea Party to Paul Revere’s midnight ride, from our victory at Yorktown to George Washington’s declaration that he would not be king.

Scratch Art Fireworks – art project and mini science lesson.
