We are studying United States History this school year and I decided we needed some fun resources to add to our studies. US History Resources from Dover Publications offer many fun options, so I decided to give them a try. My boys are first through sixth graders and there are many options available that appealed to each of them.
~ Don’t miss the giveaway at the end! I received the Dover Publications activity books in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are mine. Please see our disclosure policy.
The Dover Publications History Resources for Homeschool We Used
We Were There at the Boston Tea Party is a great chapter book about a brother and sister that are in the midst of the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party. It is an exciting adventure for the whole family and we look forward to enjoying more of the We Were There series.
All About America Facts & Fun is a fun little activity book full of facts and games about America. My first grader really enjoyed going through and completing the mazes, puzzles, coloring pages and more! I will definitely be picking up more of the Dover Little Activity Books to include in travel packs to take in the car.
If your children are anything like mine, they need to keep their hands busy during lectures and discussions. The Story of the American Revolution Coloring Book, American Presidents Coloring Book, and the History of the White House Coloring Book are a perfect solution for those busy hands! Each coloring book has wonderfully illustrated black-and-white scenes relevant to the topic. Each page also has historically accurate details about each scene, which reinforces the lessons. The detailed illustrations appeal to any age, even my middle-schooler who says, “I don’t like to color.”
The White House Cut & Assemble was a challenging and fun activity for my middle schooler. I chose this one for him to complete because he loves building car models. What better way to understand the grandeur of the White House than to make a model of it! Dover recommends this activity for ages 10 and up. My 12-year-old needed help with the cutting, which requires an exacto knife, and assembling so I imagine most children will need a little bit of help with this one.
This was our first experience using Dover Publications resources and we have become fans! The resources added a level of fun and enrichment to the social studies lessons that we were already using. We look forward to adding more Dover Publications resources to our studies in the future!

I love history books! We use Dover in our homeschool all the time. I especially love their coloring books. When I read aloud, my kiddos will often color a page in a Dover coloring book that corresponds to the reading.

My kids would love all of the coloring books from Dover. Right now I have them draw a picture during read alouds, but that can be a distraction when someone decides to draw a funny picture.

We are starting our homeschooling after our move this summer. We could probably use a lot of the books, but the ones that pop out to me are the Human Anatomy Coloring book, and the 50 States Facts & Fun.
