Princess Training For the King’s Glory Review

Character development is the most important aspect in our homeschool. Finding a way to teach the material that isn’t preachy or boring however is another story.

We’ve used a few different character training devotional that were okay, but we were having a hard time finding one that we absolutely loved.

I had the opportunity to review Richele McFarlin’s Princess Training For the King’s Glory and it was exactly the book we were waiting for!

Princess Training is a personal study for mothers-daughters that focuses on Biblical character development. The book is divided into three sections:

  • Section 1- Joelle and the Pink Dragon. This is a story written about a little girl and a pink dragon who learns what forgiveness and salvation is all about. At the end of the story there are discussion questions and a fun activity.
  • Section 2- Princess Training – Character. This section is full of goodness! There are eleven different virtues that are highlighted: Femininity, Courage, Discernment, Modesty and Thankfulness, to name a few. Each virtue has a short description followed by scripture verses that support the virtue. Next is a section for moms on ways to teach that particular virtue. Followed by a few discussion questions and lastly a fun activity to solidify the teaching of the lesson.
  • Section 3- Princess Training- Etiquette Tea Party. This section highlights the importance of etiquette by having a tea party. What little girl doesn’t love a tea party? Mrs. McFarlin offers great resources at the end of this section for putting together an awesome tea party while teaching your daughter the importance of etiquette.

Tea Party!

The author recommends this book to be used with girls ages 7-13. The lessons can easily be made to accommodate younger girls if needed. My daughters are ages six and seven and had no problem grasping any of the concepts or activities in the book.

Reviewing this book has been an absolute joy! My girls have truly learned how to be the little princess God has created them to be. The discussion opportunities that have arisen as a result of these lessons are priceless. It has strengthened my relationship with my daughters in ways too numerous to list. We will continue to review these lessons long after the last page in the book has been read. We have a monthly Mother/Daughter tea party scheduled and are working on planning a Little Lady Tea Party with their friends.

I highly recommend this book to any mother of young girls. Take the time to dive into the lessons. Share your personal stories with your daughter. Learn together, laugh together. This book lays the foundation to shape the rest of your daughter’s life. It is worth every minute.
