Let’s talk homeschool curriculum! It can be so overwhelming to find and narrow down curriculum options, especially if you are new homeschoolers to the game! If you are like me, when it comes to homeschool math, especially in the older years, I want more help from the curriculum I choose so I can teach less!
This is a collection of math resources, everything from full curriculum, to advice from other homeschool parents, and even supplemental resources.
Full Homeschool Math Curriculum Options
While this is not an exhaustive list, these are some of the math curriculum options we see used often by fellow homeschooling parents.
Homeschool Math Curriculum A-L
Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E) – Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E) is a self-paced, self-study type curriculum. The children take ownership of their studies. Children work in workbooks called PACES. Each subject has 12 workbooks per year. So for instance, English will have 12 PACES/year, Maths will have 12 PACES/year etc.
Apologia Homeschool Elementary Math Curriculum – A new product from Apologia for elementary kids in grades 1-6. This curriculum combines color photos, hands-on activities, engaging projects, and plenty of games to teach math concepts! Each lesson’s design presents math as an accessible and exciting topic.
CTCMATH Homeschool Math – An online math curriculum for children in grades K-12 (through Calculus). A one stop shop for ALL YOUR HOMESCHOOL MATH needs! It is a video based program but also offers printable versions of the lessons and worksheets so your student can work pencil and paper as well if they would like to.
IXL Math – IXL is an online program that actually covers K-12 math. Unlimited questions, adaptable, detailed reports, and even apps for your mobile devices.
Khan Academy – is a well known “FREE for Forever” site that has more than just math. But they have math curriculum for grades K-12.
Learn Math Fast High School Geometry – JK Mergens is the author of the Learn Math Fast System, a series of books that teach 1st – 12th grade math using the unique methods she created to teach her son. (Check out all those manipulatives!) Read more in this Learn Math Fast Review.
Life of Fred Elementary Math Review – written in a story format about a little boy named Fred who uses math in his everyday life. Fred is a 5 year old boy who is a professor at KITTENS University. He encounters a need for math first, and then he does the math. At the end of each chapter is a section entitled “Your Turn To Play” with questions for your students to answer that relate to what they have learned in that chapter.
Life of Fred {Homeschooling Math} – Lots of folks have heard of Fred and his story math. Many families wonder if Fred is “enough”. Take a look at how we use Life of Fred math from elementary through high school. It is our only upper level math program and it is rigorous.
Homeschool Math Curriculum M-Z
Math-U-See Algebra I – At a home school convention, I visited the Math-U-See booth and posed a question about coming up with ideas to show algebra principles in a visual-spatial way. They had an answer. They showed me their math manipulative blocks along with their text and DVD. They showed me ways to offer algebra that made it fit my visual-spatial learner. Making Math Work with Miquon – Early Elementary Math Curriculum for hands-on learners
Math Mammoth – Full math curriculum and supplemental worktexts and workbooks for elementary and middle school (plus some supplemental materials for high school).
Homeschooling Algebra with Mr. D Math – Mr. D Math offers both live and self-paced course in pre-Algebra through pre-Calculus as well as Consumer Math.
RedBird Mathematics – Personalized learning in math with a curriculum that features the latest in adaptive instruction, gamification, and digital project-based learning.
RightStart Math – A complete elementary and middle-school program that uses visualization of quantities, de-emphasizes counting, and provides strategies and games for learning the facts. The primary learning tool is the AL Abacus, a specially designed two-sided abacus that is both kinesthetic and visual.
No-Nonsense Algebra for Homeschool – Whether you are looking to give your child a solid start in Algebra, or you have a student who needs to brush up on their Algebra skills, Non-Nonsense Algebra fits the bill.
Saxon Math – Kindergarten – Each lesson starts with the Meeting Book. Basically we add a new date to the calendar and learn about new information on a calendar. It practices counting skills (up to 31 which is helpful for my daughter), reading skills, patterns (each month has a new pattern to color in the dates with), and obviously calendar skills (days of the week, months of the year, etc.) Read more on Saxon Math here: Slader for Saxon Math Solutions
Shiller Math – Homeschool math through Middle School with two levels of math kits (along with a few other kits). Their math kits are Montessori Based and cover an age range from preK through 8th grade.
Singapore Math – U.S Edition – Singapore Math uses a concrete – pictorial – abstract approach. This gives kids a foundation to work from and then encourages them to think and problem solve.
Teaching Textbooks 4.0 – App based program for grades 3 through pre-Calculus. No teaching or grading required as it’s all done within the program! Totally mobile and easy to use.
Your Business Math Series by Simple Charlotte Mason – A fun “living math” kit that reinforces math skills for ages 8–12! Your student uses math knowledge to keep his or her very own store running and, hopefully, make a profit.
Homeschool Math Helps
The Key to Math Curriculum – a series of teaching workbooks covering Fractions, Decimals, Percent, Measurement, Metric Measurement, Geometry, and Algebra. It spans several years of math instruction and provides a wonderful introduction to each of these topics.

Memorizing Math Facts – I know there are mixed feeling about drilling math facts, but I have found through my own experience that when the kids have the basics down, the more difficult stuff is easier to tackle. Memorizing Math Facts can be done in a myriad of ways such as math games (board and electronic), flash cards, and drill sheets. This is a collection of ways to help your kids memorize their math facts.
Homeschool Math Supplements
Early Math Fun! – Preschool/Kindergarten – Here’s lots of ideas for introducing math to your kiddos through play. It includes how to set up a manipulatives kit, from items that you have already in your home.
The Allowance Game – Like Monopoly, only simpler for younger kids. Ages 5+ can enjoy this game. The use of small bills will help them learn to recognize the different forms of money, learn to count it, and make change. Throughout the game they have chances to add and subtract using the money!
Math Enrichment from K-5 Learning – An online learning center (also workbooks) geared to your child’s specific needs. It is for children kindergarten to 5th grade and their goal is to assist your child in gaining proficiency in the areas of math, reading and spelling while working at their own pace.
Multiplication Unplugged – Music for learning math facts! Much to my surprise I found that I had children who learned to skip count and multiply, even before adding was solidified! (You can also get Addition Unplugged, Subtraction Unplugged, and Division Unplugged if you prefer to start elsewhere!) We would listen to it only in the car and sing the melodies together.
The Number Diva – Sally, The Number Diva, has been teaching middle school math for the past 16 years, and has experience in every grade between 4th to 9th. Whew! She makes sure that math is FUN for her students and prides herself in keeping the joy in every lesson. She plans her lessons to provide support for the lowest learners by filling in gaps from previous grade levels while at the same time challenging the higher students.
