I see nothing wrong with these sorts of books when issued by parental discretion. All children are different, however, and all adults should realize that. Not all little ones are ready for this, and I believe that any grade school that would make it available to all of its students is run by hyper-liberal idiots.

@Sue, I’m so sorry for your bad experience with this book. I agree with you that an 8 year old is too young for this book. It happened to be just right for my 10 year old, though.

I just encounted this book. My 8 year old brough home from her school library as her reading book. She went through it on her own before I found out what kind of book she brough home. I was so shocked and terrified because the graphics. My daughter is adopted two years ago from China. Her English is not good enough to read yet, but the pictures are just too intense for an 8 year old. This book should be, if at all, read with a parent by younger children. I took it away from her and told her she is too young to reach such book.
